The room had a private bathroom and a kitchenette, which was convenient. I found a great restaurant, the Cheesecake Factory, within a short walk from here.

Room was small and all we had was a small, portable fan to keep our room cool, but that wasn't so bad. Great location! We walked to union square and China Town, taxi from hotel to Fisherman's Wharf was $7.00 (not bad!) and there were plenty of restuarants nearby. Staffs were friendly. My boyfriend and I only had to walk two blocks to get to Ruby Skye (a fun and pretty nightclub that played awesome dance music).
Room was small, but can't complain much because we were only in the room when sleeping and getting ready to go out. Didn't like the hand sized portable fan because it didn't help keep our room cool. The parking garage they recommended us was supposed to charge us $17 for unlimited access and overnight but the garage ended up charging us $20.

Location allowed easy access to San Francisco attractions, 5 minutes walk to Union Square in one direction and 3 minutes to Market Street in the other. We walked back to hotel from Fisherman's Wharf one evening via Lombard's crooked street. Safe neighbourhood and friendly staff make this hotel a must for those on a budget holiday.

Very apartment like hotel. We loved the clawfoot bathtub..a little small for two in a bath though. Room was very clean. We had orignally were put in a room downstairs away from the streetfront but I requested a room off of the 1st floor and with a streetview. Staff was very helpful in finding me a room with thoses specifications within 10 minutes of arriving. They even let us check in prior to 3 o'clock which is suppose to be the earliest check in time. We stayed on a Saturday and checked out the next morning. If you like city environment then you will love this hotel. Very active area at night. There's a highend nightclub right across the street. Union square is 10 min walk. The parking garage is a little less than a football field away. The vietnamese community is 5 min away with restaurants at every corner. The cable car turn around is a 10 min walk. This place is in the middle of everything. It is very loud at night but very exected for this location. The tenderloin neighborhood is very over hyped as a, "bad" place at night. It has bums just like everywhere else in san francisco. Plain and simple you're not going to find a better location and customer service at this price. The hotel in very independent and comfortable. I will most definitely stay at the halcyon hotel my next time in san francisco. Thanks halcyon hotel. You guys made our stay in the city that more enjoyable.

My daughter and I spent 16 nights at the Halcyon. I was very pleasantly surprised with our accommodations. The hotel is kept spotless. It has been recently renovated but kept its Victorian charm. The location is perfect for getting everywhere in the city. I will definatly stay with them again!

Very sweet receptionist. Very helpful and provide lots of information for my visiting in San Francisco. Small hotel, very compacted room but has everything in the room. Room is very clean too. Great location, only a few blocks to Union Square. If you are travelling on budget, this is a great choice.

The hotel is very cosy and clean inside. the price is more than okay because of the location next to downtown. the front desk is open between 9 am and 5 pm. we arrived after 5pm so we got an email with all the information and things to know. the key was in our room. we had a room for three people. it was not huge but big enough for the three of us. just around the corner are the marriot and other luxury hotels. I think the location is very good. San Francisco has a lot of homeless people so there are also some around the hotel but we never felt unsafe. the best shopping is just 5 min away from the hotel!!! all in all: we liked the Halcyon Hotel stay and we would book it again. we just been at the hotel for sleeping so if you plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel you should maybe book a hotel with frontdesk, bar and restaurant.
There is no elevator, so don´t come with big luggage. there is no stuff which could help you!!! the hotel is located really close to downtown so it could be a little bit loud at night with open windows.

The hotel was situtated very near to public transportation, the tourist informatin centre and union square
The fact that it was located very near to a church that took care of homeless people. This caused a lot of begging people, asking you for money.

Located near Union Square; room included a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, coffee, plates, cups and utensils. Located near the Lorraine Hansberry Theatre where we made reservation to see a play.
TV was too small, no elevators, parking rate increased...not same as adverticed on internet.

I was very happy with the cost of the Halcyon. I was also happily surprised that they had coffee, a microwave and a refrigerator.
The location was a little sketchy. There was a soup kitchen nearby so there were a lot of homeless. Also, the faucet in the shower broke off easily and the bed was not that comfortable.
